Crossing Over || Part 2
Crossing Over || Part 2, Day 1
Joshua 1:1-9 NKJV
After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
In order for you to cross over, let the past go in order to step into your God given future. Change the way you walk and know your next step has purpose. Get a biblical revelation of who you are in Christ and who your enemy is.
Remember, the promises of God can be spoken by man, but they are given by God.
From Exodus all the way through Deuteronomy we read the promises of God being communicated to the children of Israel. In almost every case, the promises were spoken by God to someone, and the person spoke to the people. We see this in the very beginning of Exodus as Moses tells the leaders of Israel that God is ready to deliver them from Egyptian bondage.
We see this very vividly in the story of the first Passover. God is about to execute His final judgement on the Egyptians and free His people. God gives Moses a promise to tell the people. “Tell them that anyone who gets the blood of the lamb and places it on their door post, I promise the death angel will pass over them.” Moses communicates this promise and not only were the children of Israel spared, but they left out with 450 years of back pay plus interest.
Church, if you look throughout the Bible, most of the time when people get in trouble with God it’s because God speaks through one of His servants and the people don’t believe it or obey it. Why? Because they are hearing it through man. However, what they don’t realize is that even though man speaks it, God is the one that gives it. That’s why God tells Samuel in 1 Samuel 8, don’t worry about their request.
1 Samuel 8:1-8, “Now it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel. The name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah; they were judges in Beersheba. But his sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice. Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, ‘Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.’ But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, ‘Give us a king to judge us.’ So Samuel prayed to the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day—with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also.’”
Let’s pray together…
