Crossing Over
Crossing Over || Day 4
Joshua 1:1-9 NKJV
After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Romans 13:11-14 NKJV
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Get a biblical revelation of who you are in Christ and who your enemy is.
When you look at the chapter and what God is saying to Joshua, you see how strategic God is. The last time they were at the Jordan River, and they mentioned their enemies to God, do you remember what they said? They said, “They are giants, and we are like grasshoppers in their sight.” In other words, their enemies were huge in their minds. The Bible says as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
This time they are camped at that same river, and it is forty years later. But this time God speaks and gives Joshua a biblical perspective of their enemies. He never mentions their size. He never mentions how strong they are. He never mentions how many there are. He never mentions how fortified they are. Why?
Because God isn’t focused on our enemies. He’s focused on giving us the victory. He’s not in heaven wondering how He is going to defeat the devil. He’s already defeated him and has already sealed his future. That’s why you read way more about what the death and resurrection of Jesus did for the believer than what it did to the devil. Why?
Because God wants us to have a biblical understanding of who we are in Christ. Once you understand that, you will realize the devil has already lost. Therefore, He tells Joshua, “We aren’t going to talk about the enemy. Here’s my promise to you. No man shall be able to stand against you!” If you remember this and have faith in this, you will walk in victory.
Let’s pray together…
