The Holy Spirit || Part 11
The Holy Spirit || Part 11, Day 2
Acts 2:1-4 NKJV
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
I Corinthians 12:1-11 NKJV
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
Word of Wisdom - This is wisdom that God imparts to those who are close to Him. The word of wisdom reveals some future event that may affect an individual to bring about the best possible conclusion and result for that believer. This wisdom is from heaven, not from the world. As a matter of fact, throughout the Bible God doesn’t speak highly of the wisdom of the world. There are many scriptures in which He speaks negatively of the wisdom of the world or the natural wisdom of man.
1 Corinthians 1:18-25, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.’ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”
The word of wisdom is the supernatural wisdom of God, imparted into your life. Just like tongues, the interpretation of tongues, and prophecy. The word of wisdom comes with an action from the Holy Spirit. It is a quickening from the Holy Spirit that gives you the wisdom of God in that moment. This gift can manifest at any time and at any place.
In a day and age, when the world thinks they have all the answers, this gift can be a powerful eye-opener. We see this gift in operation with Stephen in the book of Acts. Stephen was a deacon and a man full of the Holy Spirit. The Pharisees and religious rulers came to debate with Stephen, but they could not contend with the wisdom the Holy Spirit gave him.
Acts 6:10 (NIV) “But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.”
We also see this gift of wisdom operating through Daniel as he interpreted the king’s dream. Daniel was able to give the king the interpretation of the dream. We also see this gift of wisdom operating through Joseph. Joseph tells Pharaoh what his dream was and the interpretation of the dream. But the gift of wisdom doesn’t stop there, he then tells Pharaoh what he needs to do to preserve the nation of Egypt during a famine. This is the gift of wisdom operating by the Holy Spirit.
Church, we need a multitude of people operating in the gift of wisdom. I believe through the gift of wisdom God will protect, provide, and prosper the church in these last days.
Let’s pray together…
