Build It || Part 3, Day 3

Matthew‬ 16‬:13‬-19‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Luke‬ 19‬:13‬ KJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

In 2 Chronicles 6, King Solomon turns his face towards the multi-billion dollar structure that had been the primary focus of the last seven years of his life, and the obsession of his father, David’s final years.

Both men had sought God for how to build it. Both had poured outrageous amounts of personal and national finances into seeing it raised up. They had spilled blood and spent personal credibility and diplomacy to see it become a reality. They used the skill of tens of thousands of specialized builders, artisans, laborers, and leaders to create the most expensive building to have ever been built ever. As he gazes on the magnificence of all of this, counting the cost required to see it come to pass, he realizes, this place means nothing without His glory.

Solomon has created everything according the plan that his father received in revelation. He called the entire nation together to dedicate it. He made so vast a number of offerings that day that the nation’s accountants could not keep up with the numbers. The praise and worship team were singing and playing and glorifying the name of the Lord. He preached to his people. There was one thing left to do. Ask God to meet them there.

This man of God does not consider it complete until he calls a nation-wide prayer meeting.

He climbs the platform, bows on his knees, stretches out his arms and calls on God to add what earth had no supply of…His glory.

II Chronicles 6:14-21 NKJV

and he said: “Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven or on earth like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts. You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day. Therefore, Lord God of Israel, now keep what You promised Your servant David my father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man sit before Me on the throne of Israel, only if your sons take heed to their way, that they walk in My law as you have walked before Me.’ And now, O Lord God of Israel, let Your word come true, which You have spoken to Your servant David. “But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built! Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O Lord my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You: that Your eyes may be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You would put Your name, that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place. And may You hear the supplications of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and when You hear, forgive.”

Let’s pray together…
