Crossing Over || Day 2

Joshua‬ 1‬:1‬-9‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Romans‬ 13‬:11‬-14‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

Let the past go in order to step into your God given future.

The children of Israel are camped beside the Jordan River and Moses has died. They have mourned him now for thirty days. God speaks to Joshua and says, “Moses is dead.” Why would God say this to Joshua? Obviously, Joshua and all of Israel know that Moses is dead. They have been mourning him for thirty days now. Why would God speak and say “Moses is dead?”

First of all, because Moses was known for leaving for forty days at a time and coming back with his face shining so bright no one could look at it. Secondly, He’s telling him, ‘If you don’t move forward, the children of Israel will build a monument after Moses and live here.” In other words, they will live the rest of their lives in what was instead of what will be.

Philippians 3:13-14, “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Beloved, it would be very advantageous for some of us to heed what the Holy Spirit is saying today. Some of us are trying to cross over into the Promised Land with Moses. We are trying to cross over into the Promised Land with the problems and the pain of yesterday.

The problem is, God has already stated that Moses can’t go into the land with you. Church, I don’t know what your Moses is today. It may be something tragic that happened in 2023. It may be a comfort zone that you grew accustomed to in 2023. It may be something that caused you to lose all confidence and faith in the Lord.

Whatever it is to you just know this, it can’t cross over with you! Make up your mind today that Moses is dead, and Joshua is alive. Joshua represents the unknown future. The future may be unknown, but it is still better than living in the past.

Let’s pray…
