God Ain't Done Yet || Part 8
God Ain't Done Yet || Part 8 - Day 4
I Corinthians 1:25-29 NKJV
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.
Judges 7:1-7 NKJV
Then Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) and all the people who were with him rose early and encamped beside the well of Harod, so that the camp of the Midianites was on the north side of them by the hill of Moreh in the valley. And the Lord said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.’ ” And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained. But the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Then it will be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ the same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ the same shall not go.” So he brought the people down to the water. And the Lord said to Gideon, “Everyone who laps from the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set apart by himself; likewise everyone who gets down on his knees to drink.” And the number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest of the people got down on their knees to drink water. Then the Lord said to Gideon, “By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, every man to his place.”
Three things we must watch for, so we don’t fall into the traps of the enemy. I’m going to expose three things from the story of Gideon that the devil is trying to use right now against the children of God.
Let’s talk about the first one today.
1) We must watch for the subtle invasion of self-dependency.
The devil never comes to you in one day and says, “Stop depending upon God and depend on yourself. Stop trusting in the Lord and start trusting in what you can do or what others can do for you.” He never comes in one day and says, “Quit remembering everything God has done for you in the past.”
No, he does it in subtle ways. It’s a slow fade that creeps in and begins to chip away at the altar of the Lord in your life. He knows that most people who have been truly born-again, and have tasted of heavenly things are not going to go back to their old lifestyle. He knows that most of us are not going back to the drugs or alcohol that we were delivered from. He knows that most of us are not going back to the lying, cheating, and stealing we used to do.
Therefore, he begins to minister in different ways to try and get us away from the Lord. He begins to minister in different ways to try and get us neutralized and stagnant in the call that’s upon our lives. He slowly begins to try and deceive us into depending upon ourselves. This slow attack is an agenda to get us prideful and then ultimately out of fellowship with God.
The enemy tells you, “This can’t happen because you don’t have this. This will never happen because you don’t have enough people. This will never happen because you’re not smart enough, rich enough, or strong enough to make it happen.” He is trying to get you into a place of depending upon yourself. In times like that, you must remember an anointing came on Gideon to take 300 men and defeat a vast army in several days. Matter of a fact, theologians say that the army Gideon defeated had at least 135,000 men in it.
When the devil reminds you of what you don’t have or what you aren’t; you need to tell him, “I might not have it YET, but it is quickly coming into my hands. I might not have the money yet, but it’s quickly coming into my hands. There’s an anointing upon me right now to accomplish the Father’s will in the earth.”
Jeremiah 17:5, “Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.”
Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord and depart from evil.”
Beloved, the devil thinks he has trapped you and deceived you into depending upon yourself. But you did one thing this today that is going to help your life. You opened this devotion and have placed yourself under an anointing to hear the word of God. Therefore, what the devil does not know is that he has pushed you into depending on God even more.
I don’t know about you, but I have decided to trust in the Lord! If He can’t take me there, I don’t want to go. If He can’t give it to me, I don’t want it. If He can’t do it in my life, I don’t want it done. If He can’t help me become it, I don’t want to be it.
Let’s pray together…
