From Struggle to Triumph: Part 1 || Day 6

Joshua‬ ‭1:1-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬
After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, “Pass through the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you will cross over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’ ”

All throughout the New Testament there are three major characters that dominate the subject of inheritance. Abraham, Jesus, and the New Testament believer. Abraham received the inheritance from God, but never got to see the fullness of it. But because he believed it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Jesus came as a natural seed of Abraham and died, therefore releasing the inheritance to all who believe. His death released the inheritance, His resurrection secured it. As the natural seed of Abraham, He fulfilled all righteousness and therefore became the mediator, author, and finisher of our faith. Because of this the inheritance has now been passed down, not just in the natural, but in the spiritual as well. Because of this, we as Gentiles have been grafted into the promise, the inheritance of the Lord. Not just to walk in a spiritual inheritance, but also a natural inheritance.

Church, God is so serious about inheritance and the fulfillment of covenant that there are things in the natural that were set in place thousands of years ago and they still remain. Think about it, He told Abraham look and as far as you can see, I have given you. We know now that Abraham was looking over the land of what we now know is Israel. The Bible tells us that, because of sin, they would be exiled to a foreign land for hundreds of years. However, God promises to bring them back and give them back their land. The exact land they once had.

The Bible says in Isaiah 66:8, “Can a nation be born in one day?” In one day, God gave them back their inheritance as a Jewish people, the land of Israel. Though there have been countless kings and kingdoms that have tried to take that inheritance. Nations and governments, terrorists and people groups have tried to move Israel off that land. Every one of them failed miserably! Why? Because God gave it to them as an inheritance through Abraham.

Beloved, if God feels that way toward a people who don’t know Him and, in many cases, don’t serve Him, how much more does He want His New Testament saints to walk in this inheritance? If God can preserve a people and their land for thousands of years and restore them back to that land, how much more does He want to take care of you and restore you. If every attempt of wicked people, nations, and kingdoms failed to wipe them out, how much more will every attempt of wickedness fail to wipe us out.

Church, the struggle to obtain the inheritance is over.
