It’s Time to Come UP!

Part 1 || Day 5

Proverbs‬ 13‬:22‬ NKJV‬‬

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

Ecclesiastes‬ 2‬:26‬ NKJV‬‬

For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

II Corinthians‬ 8‬:9‬ NKJV

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

In Genesis 30:28-43, Jacob receives a wealth transfer regardless of the schemes to hold him back.

Jacob has to flee his father’s house because of what he did to his brother. His brother has vowed to kill him when he sees him. Jacob flees to the land of the east. There he meets a woman that has gained his attention. Her name is Rachel. He goes to Rachel’s father and agrees to work for him for seven years so he can marry her.

Jacob serves Laban for seven years to marry Rachel. However, on the night of their wedding Laban sneaks his other daughter into the tent and holds Rachel back. Once Jacob wakes up in the morning, he realizes what has been done to him and he is livid. Now Jacob has to work another seven years for Rachel. After seven years he marries Rachel and is about to leave Laban’s house.

Laban realizes the only reason God has been blessing him is because Jacob has been there. So, he convinced Jacob to stay, but now he will pay him. During that time, Laban keeps changing Jacob’s wages, because every time they make an agreement, it turns out in Jacob’s favor. Even though he keeps changing Jacob’s wages, the Bible tells us that Jacob became exceedingly prosperous, and had large flocks, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys.

Jacob hears Laban’s sons talking about him and they are upset. They are saying that Jacob now has taken away all their father’s wealth. So, Jacob gets his wives and his servants, and all that he has and leaves without them knowing it. God brings Jacob back to the land which he had left, just as the Lord promised him.

It didn’t matter what Laban did to try and keep Jacob back. Because Jacob had the blessing and the covenant of God on his life, he continued to prosper. Not only did he prosper, but all the wealth that Laban had was transferred into Jacob’s hands. Not only did he receive the wealth that he had, but Jacob also multiplied and prospered mightily with that wealth.

What are you saying to us today? I’m telling you that every time you say that you serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, what you are saying, is that you serve the God who knows how to transfer the wealth of the wicked into the hands of the righteous!

Let’s pray together…
