The Holy Spirit || Part 12
The Holy Spirit || Part 12, Day 1
Acts 2:1-4 NKJV
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
I Corinthians 12:1-11 NKJV
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
The nine gifts of the Holy Spirit can be separated into three parts. Three of the gifts are vocal gifts. These gifts give you the ability or the empowerment to speak like God. Next, there are three gifts that are revelatory gifts. These gifts give you the ability to think like God. Lastly, there are three gifts that are action gifts. These gifts help us to act like God.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 12:7 that the gifts are given for the PROFIT of all. The Greek word for profit there is defined as such, to gain, to benefit, or lucrative. In other words, the gifts of the Spirit have been given to make the church profitable and successful in the great commission. They have been given to make sure we succeed at the highest level possible on the earth.
All throughout the Bible we see the gifts of the Holy Spirit in action. In the Old Testament seven of the nine gifts are constantly in operation. When you read the Bible and you see the people of God in a crisis, every time you will see a gift, or several gifts show up and manifest the victory of the Lord. What does this tell us? The gifts of the Holy Ghost were not given just to have a good service. The gifts of the Spirit were given to bring victory in every part of our lives and in the kingdom.
The gifts of the Spirit were given…
For barren women to birth children.
For women to have their children raised back to life again.
For a whole nation to cross over the Red Sea on dry land and watch their enemies be swallowed up in that same sea.
For the Hebrew boys who were facing a fiery furnace and wouldn’t bow their knees to an idol.
For common people who were considered weak to subdue kingdoms.
For others to administer justice, obtain blessings, and close the mouths of lions.
If the gifts of the Spirit did that under a lesser covenant, then how much more will they do under a greater covenant?
Let’s pray together…
